About Wickford Village

Wickford village, a seaport, was originally founded in 1709.  The town was platted out in a fashion similar to colonial Boston.  Each lot was sold with “three rods of frontage.”

After the Revolutionary War, Wickford became a prominent trading center, second only to Newport.  During this period, numerous taverns, shops and support services were established in the village.  Today visitors enjoy village eateries, convenience stores and services and exciting shopping with unique selections in fashion, décor and memorabilia as well as convenience stores.
