HistWick Membership

HistWick’s mission is to preserve, protect and celebrate the historic village of Wickford, its harbor and its surrounding environs. Regular meetings are held to plan and take action on issues of importance to the membership.

HistWick Membership is open to anyone interested in preserving, protecting, improving and celebrating the quality of life in the historic village of Wickford. We encourage you to become members of HistWick, attend HistWick meetings and help build a clear, unified voice for (or against) issues affecting our community.

HistWick  delivered on it’s mission in 2013 in several ways.  In November we unveiled a new Historic photo display titled “Wickford’s Trains, Steamer and Village Life” in the waiting room at the new train station.  We also conducted a survey of the residential property owners within Wickford’s historic district to get their perspective on the Wickford sewer alternatives under consideration by the Town Council; our  input was a key factor in their decision to develop a better alternative.    Earlier in the year Tim Cranston presented a talk on the historic nature of the stained glass windows at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Main Street in Wickford.  And HistWick also supported the publishing of the 4th and final volume of noted local historian Tim Cranston’s series on Walking in Olde Wickford.  We ended the year with our the annual community Pot Luck Dinner.

2012 was an equally busy year.  In December, with the gracious help of a number of homeowners on Pleasant Street and a large group of volunteers, we sponsored a Holiday Kitchen Tour.   Together, we raised over $5000 to support HistWick activities and the North Kingstown Food Pantry.  We also celebrated the holidays with our annual community Pot Luck Dinner complete with music, great food and great fellowship.  HistWick also supported the publishing of the 3rd volume of noted local historian Tim Cranston’s series on Walking in Olde Wickford.

Our new website  www.historicwickford.org  is full of interesting information and growing each day.  It not only contains HistWick news and events, but provides a wealth of data as well as links to other historic organizations… locally, regionally and nationally.

Completing and mailing the form below along with membership dues will give you the opportunity to unite with a group of people committed to historic preservation.  We look forward to your joining us.
