New Programs Offered – February 23 and March 23

Friends and fellow HistWick members,

HistWick will sponsor two programs by noted local historian and HistWick board member Tim Cranston in the coming weeks.

On Saturday, February 23rd at 10 am. Join Tim in the inviting confines of St Paul’s Episcopal Church on Main Street as he explores the multilayered stories told by the extraordinary stained glass windows that reside there. These windows, described by one noted stained glass expert as “one of the finest collections within a small church in the country”, speak on numerous levels, telling tales of both local 19th and 20th century church members, as well as some of Christianity’s most important messages.

On Saturday, March 23th at 2 pm  : A Walk Up Quality Hill – Tim will lead a stroll up West Main Street through this unique section of the village of Wickford. We will learn of the mariners, ship builders, entrepreneurs, and exceptional women who have called Quality Hill home along the way. The walk will begin and end at the Cranston/Murphy Funeral Home. March 23th at 2pm (Foul weather date March 30rd same time.)

We hope you will join your fellow HistWick members for these programs.  If you haven’t yet renewed your membership for the 2019 calendar year please consider doing so.  Your ongoing support gives us the opportunity to offer programs like the ones mentioned above and also to support local efforts for historic preservation and education.
